White Wolfapos;s Scion: Hero is pretty damn fun for a game that youapos;d snickeringly think is about godmodding (which can happen in Scion: God). The Titans of old have returned to wage war on the gods. They in turn have come to Earth to visit the many children theyapos;ve sired with mortals and awaken them to their divine birthright. Basically pick a pantheon, pick your parent god, and create your character and his powers based on that. It reminded me of Age of Mythology, but on a much more personal scale.
The pantheons you can pick from are the Greek Dodekatheon, the Egyptian Pesedjet, the Norse Aesir, the Aztec Atzlanti, the Japanese Amatsukami, and the African Loa (plus more in other supplements). Luis, Mark, and Ryan were sons of Thor, Baron Samedi, and Morrigan respectively. Yours truly chose to be a modern day ninja with Hachiman for his father. I chose a divine sword and my very own band of ninja spies for my Birthright.
Memorable Moment 1: running into a big-ass owlbear in the Canadian wilds. Rather than pummel it to death, Luis and Ryan pooled their strength and hurled it into the fricking stratosophere.
Memorable Moment 2: meeting a very pretty (and very naked) nymph in the same mission. Mark turns on his Epic Charisma and pretty much bangs her on the spot to get the info we need.
Memorable Moment 3: trying and failing to spy on three dwarves and a Fire Giant when Luis failed his Stealth check. Fortunately he made up for it with a lightning bolt that killed one dwarf. Followed by myself battou-slashing the second and Ryan scaring the bejeesus out of the Fire Giant to send him running. We then interrogated the dwarf and decided to keep the poor guy for our armorer.
Memorable Moment 4: confronting a gigantic sandworm type-creature in the basement of a hotel where the pantheons are having a vital conference. Yours Truly unleashes a stentorian battle cry and seriously screws up the wormapos;s mojo. He also dealt the killing blow after some help from the others.
Looking forward to future sessions. Kratos from God of War must be some serious shit in this kinda system.
